What Makes This Mitzvah Project So Meaningful

Lift others while celebrating

Your Mitzvah becomes more than a rite of passage—it becomes a tangible expression of tzedakah and hesed (kindness).

Local connection, lasting care

Kits go directly to patients in your community. The difference is personal, visible, and lasting.

Thoughtful, real-world impact

We curate each Chemo Care Kit with essential items that bring relief during a difficult journey. From comfort to practical care, every item matters.

What’s Inside Each Chemo Care Kit

Comfort essentials like cozy socks, lip balm, hand cream, ginger chews, eye masks, journals, and more—each selected to ease common side effects and offer warmth during treatment.

A soft, seat‑belt‑attached Port Pillow, to cushion the chemo port and protect against discomfort during car rides.

How to Turn Your Mitzvah into Meaning

Fundraising Only

Your Mitzvah Project starts with the most important step: making sure every kit is funded so it can reach a cancer patient who needs it.

Each kit costs $20, which includes all the comfort items, our signature port pillow, and shipping directly to the cancer center of your choice anywhere in the U.S.

Think of it as inviting your community to join your mitzvah. Every dollar raised has a direct, tangible outcome: a kit in the hands of someone going through chemotherapy. We have seen students, families, synagogues, schools, and entire neighborhoods rally together, turning fundraising into a celebration of generosity.

We will make it simple by creating a custom fundraising page for your project that you can share with family, friends, and your community. We need a 30-day window from when fundraising ends until the kits are delivered.

You will also receive creative fundraising ideas and tools to help you reach your goal.

Bake Sales & Pop-Up Cafés – A sweet way to gather support and spark conversation about your project.

Sponsor-a-Kit Drives – Invite friends, family, and congregants to cover the cost of one or more kits, knowing exactly what their gift provides.

Online Giving Campaigns – Share your story and goal through a personalized donation page you can send via email or social media.

Matching Gifts & Business Sponsorships – Partner with local businesses or employers to double the impact.

Fundraising + Chemo Care Kit Build Day Activity

Host a Build Day to assemble complete chemo care kits with friends and family.

1. Fund the Kit Contents

We will make it simple to start raising funds by creating a custom fundraising page that you can share with family, friends, and your community.

Each kit costs approximately $10 when ordering for a standard Build Day of 250 kits ($2,540).

We’ll share easy, creative fundraising ideas to help you reach your goal — whether you’re funding 100 kits or 1,000.

Larger Build Days benefit from bulk purchasing, which lowers the per-kit cost:

100 Kits $11.77 each ($1,178)
250 Kits $10.16 each ($2,540)
500 Kits $9.40 each ($4,700)
1,000 Kits $9.27 each ($9,266)

2. Find a Port Pillow Maker

A port pillow is a small cushion designed to shield the chemo port from irritation or pressure caused by a car’s seat belt. Ports, surgically placed under the skin near the chest, make chemotherapy easier to administer but can be sensitive and painful if bumped.

The port pillow attaches to the seat belt with Velcro, forming a soft barrier that makes every car ride—whether to treatment, the doctor, or a simple outing—more comfortable.

If you have a volunteer who wants to make port pillows locally, we’ll provide sewing patterns and instructions.

If not, we’ll connect you with our network of makers.

3. Receive Materials before Build Day

Once your fundraiser is complete, we will order and ship all of the materials to your chosen location.

4. Host Your 2-Hour Build Day

Gather together and pack the kits. Our step-by-step guide ensures everyone — from kids to grandparents — can help.

5. Deliver Locally

Drop the kits at your local cancer center (or we can help coordinate delivery) and receive photos and thank-yous showing the difference you made.

Fill out the form below to get started. Our team will be in touch and help you coordinate the project.

Ways to Personalize Your Kits

Letters or Drawings of Hope

Include personal notes in each kit to share encouragement and strength.

Friendship or Hope Bracelets

Create simple bracelets as a wearable reminder that someone is thinking of them. These small tokens of care can travel with patients wherever they go, offering comfort on hard days.
